Basant Mounir

Currently a Data Scientist at Banque Misr, Basant harnesses the power of data to find new ways to delight BMOnline users. A data enthusiast at heart, Basant amassed experience across various data functions, including data science, data engineering, product management, artificial intelligence consultancy, and statistical methods research. Her career spanned different organizations, from startups such as Synapse Analytics and Fatura to corporates such as Vodafone. She received her B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from the German University in Cairo (GUC). As technical president of IEEE at the GUC, Basant founded her university’s award-winning data science school with data analytics and machine learning specializations. Her research interests are statistical methods, natural language processing, and computational linguistics. When Basant’s not working, she is usually enjoying meeting new people or learning new languages.
